A SwordPlay Parent's Guide to "Who's Who" in Star Wars!

Parents, are your children giving you the weekly update on “Asouka” and “Comander Cody”? Confused about Asajj Ventress and Plo Koon? Here’s a quick list of popular Star Wars Characters your children love, to help you keep up with the ever growing Star Wars cast.

Anakin Skywalker
born a slave on Tatooine, conceived by the force. Prophesized as the “chosen one who would bring balance to the force”. Discovered by Qui-Gon Jinn, trained by Obi-Wan Kenobi, hero of the Clone Wars, secretly married Padme Amidala, father of Luke and Leia, became Darth Vader. Lost his legs and an arm in battle against Obi-Wan, his injuries led to his encasement in a bio suit and robotic limbs. Commanded the Galactic Empire’s forces as second in command to Emperor Palpatine, killed Obi-Wan Kenobi, Count Dooku and countless other Jedi. Turned on his master Darth Sidious in defense of his son, Luke, and died soon after.

Asajj Ventress
a Rattatak, originally trained as a Jedi, turned to the Dark side to avenge her master’s murder, became apprenticed to Count Dooku but could never be a Sith due to the “Rule of Two”, villain of the Clone Wars, gave Anakin Skywalker his scar, famous for her double saber style of fighting

Asouka Tano
padawan of Anakin Skywalker, a Togruta, discovered by Plo Koon, hero of the Clone Wars

Chewbacca
Wookie from Kashyyk, friend to Han Solo

Clone Commander Cody
aka Unit 2224, served under Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Clone Wars

Count Dooku
former Jedi, quit the Jedi order to reclaim his inheritance as Duke on Serenno. A pupil of Yoda, Qui-gon Jinn was his Padawan. Became the second apprentice of Darth Sidious, called himself Darth Tyranus. Taught General Grievous the art of lightsaber, took Asajj Ventress as apprentice. Killed by Anakin Skywalker.

Darth Maul
a Zabrak of Iridonia, first apprentice of Darth Sidious, killed Qui-Gon Jinn and killed by Obi-Wan Kenobi during the battle of Naboo. Famous for wielding the saber-staff, a double edged lightsaber.

Jango Fett
Last of the Mandalorian people, Jango was the prototype for the Clone army of the republic.

Boba Fett
Unaltered clone of Jango Fett, raised as his son. Became a bounty hunter after his “father’s” death. Famous for capturing Han Solo for Jabba the Hutt.

General Grievous
A Kaleesh, mostly android, famous villain of the Clone Wars. Hunted Jedi for sport, collected their lightsabers as trophies, trained by Darth Tyranus, defeated and killed by Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Han Solo
Corellian, friend of Luke Skywalker, smuggler, hero of the rebellion, owner and pilot of the Millennium Falcon, frozen in Carbonite as a trophy for Jabba the Hutt, married Leia Organa, father of Jacen, Jaina and Anakin Solo.

Jabba the Hutt
A Hutt gangster from Tatooine, employed Han Solo as a smuggler, sent Boba Fett to capture Solo, killed by Leia Organa as she escaped his barge during Solo’s rescue.

Leia Organa-Solo
Daughter of Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala, twin sister of Luke Skywalker, adopted by Bail Organa and raised as Princess of Aldaraan, Senator and leader of the Rebellion, captured and forced to watch her planet destroyed by the Death Star, married Han Solo, mother of Jacen Solo, Jaina Solo and Anakin Solo. Trained as a Jedi of the New Order.

Luke Skywalker
son of Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala, twin brother of Leia Organa, raised on Tatooine by his half-uncle Owen, trained by Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda. Luke faced the Emperor and refused to turn to the dark side, inspiring his father to rebel and kill the Emperor. Formed the New Jedi Order after defeat of the Galactic Empire, married Mara Jade (one of the Emperor’s former assassins), father of Ben Skywalker.

Mace Windu
from Haruun Kal, member of the Jedi Council in the old republic, hero of the Clone Wars, famous for his Purple Lightsaber, killed by Darth Sidious while trying to arrest him.

Obi-Wan Kenobi
aka Ben Kenobi, apprentice of Qui-Gon Jinn, trained Anakin Skywalker and later Luke Skywalker, General of the Clone Wars, hid young Luke on Tatooine, killed by Darth Vader helping Leia escape the death star.

Padme Amidala
Former Queen of Naboo, wife of Anakin Skywalker, mother to Luke and Leia

Palpatine
former senator of Naboo, he became Supreme Chancellor then Emperor. Also Darth Sidious, master of Darth Maul, Darth Tyranus and Darth Vader. Led the Jedi purge, killed by Darth Vader when trying to destroy Luke Skywalker.

Plo Koon
A Kel Dor from Dorin, member of Jedi council of the old republic, discovered Asouka Tano, Jedi of the Clone Wars, killed in Jedi Purge

Qui-Gon Jinn
Padawan of Count Dooku, trained Obi-Wan Kenobi, discovered Anakin Skywalker on Tatooine while helping Queen Amidala escape the Trade Federation. Killed by Darth Maul.

Yoda
trained Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker as well as many generations of Jedi, Jedi master for more than 8 centuries, hid on Degobah during the Jedi purge, hero of the Clone Wars, died of old age.

Now that you have an idea of who’s who (over to the left side of the page), here’s a breakdown of the “teams” to consider when choosing characters for your SwordPlay Event. Some characters walk (or cross) the line between good and evil, and can be seen as either, depending on their opponent. (The neutral characters are not Jedi or Sith and can not perform the lightsaber duel, but make an excellent third character for larger parties!)
